I picked up this Yashica Electro 35 GSN at a camera fair the other day. It’s in perfect condition cosmetically, the shutter is snappy and with a battery in the meter and indicator lights work as they should.
However there seems to be an issue with shutter speeds. When the yellow ‘slow’ indicator lights it means that the shutter speed is less than 1/30 but when this happens the camera functions as if in bulb mode and the shutter stays open as long as you hold the release. Hmm… perhaps the ‘pad of death’?
I might shoot without the battery at 1/500 and use Sunny 16 until I pluck up the courage to attempt a repair, or send to the man himself Mark Hama
